Follow-up items

...from March 19 WHO board meeting. See the Future Directions working group Future Directions Follow-up page for more information.

Here’s the information for our next meeting, which looks a long way away but really isn’t.

At the WHO board meeting yesterday the group was impressed with the tasks you have taken on and they want to offer encouragement in the directions you’ve chosen. In particular, the board was supportive of the survey since it will support the grant efforts of the Future Directions group. I’ve attached the Future Directions draft outline of the grant project. They did offer several comments about pitfalls of surveying small institutions. They suggested that we have the Technical Committee look over the questions to make sure we are asking the right questions about file exporting, importing and database updating.

They are appreciative that one of the outcomes of this working group will be the Digital Photography Guidelines. They are impressed that the museum group is tackling the hierarchical structure issue of museum metadata.

Our agenda in April will be to discuss:
Argus information from Paul (unless email discussion will do)
            Update on historical society/museum survey
Discussion of the museum grant project and how the museum wg can help
Other agenda items?

I’ll send a reminder in April about this meeting and the agenda. I wanted you all to know soon about the Future Directions group work on a grant and about the board’s approval of your initiatives.
